Brownfield Plan Included CL-Out Bioremediation

A brownfield plan included Cl-Out bioremediation to reduce high concentrations of TCE and other contaminants in ground water at an industrial site near Newark, New Jersey. Using a dynamic remediation plan, three applications of CL-Out microbes followed remediation progress sampling during the site preparation for construction. After reducing the maximum CVOC concentrations from over 8,000 ug/L to less than 20 ug/L, the site met the remediation goals and received a No Further Action Letter from NJDEP. Aerobic Cometabolism of Chlorinated Solvents

CL-Out® aerobic cometabolism successfully remediated solvents in ground water at an operating industrial site in central New Jersey.  The manufacturing and plating facility had historical petroleum and solvent releases.

Chlorinated solvents found in the ground water in two plumes covered a combined area of about one half acre.  A mix of chlorinated solvents including 1,1,1-TCA, 1,1-DCE and PCE in low concentrations icontaminated the ground water.    The remediation goal was to reduce the mass of contamination in the ground water plume to prevent mitigate off-site risks.

After the CL-Out aerobic cometabolism, ground water concentrations in all monitoring wells decreased by more than 80%, which was sufficient to meet the remediation standards.  Click here to download a complete case study.

In Situ TPH Bioremediation with Petrox

With Petrox microbes, in situ TPH bioremediation reduced the concentration of petroleum in soil at a former gas station from 9,500 mg/kg to 52 mg/kg. The impacted soil was at more than 20 feet deep.  Injection of calcium peroxide provided the oxygen needed for metabolism of the petroleum by Petrox microbes.  The post treatment sampling was 90 days after the bioaugmentation, so that even though the average remediation rate was 105 mg/kg/day, the peak remediation rate must have been much higher when the Petrox population was higher.

This is another example of fast, reliable bioremediation by Petrox organisms.

Fast Creosote Bioremediation Results

Bioremediation of Waste Treated Wood

Fast creosote bioremediation was recently demonstrated by a user of a custom blend of CL Solutions organisms.  The environmental consulting firm applied the microbes to finely shredded wood that had been saturated with creosote.  The initial testing results after bioaugmentation showed a reduction of the creosote concentration by  57% in just 7 days.  The concentration measured as total recoverable hydrocarbons decreased from 3,453 mg/kg to 1,497 mg/kg.

What enzymes Are Involved in Aerobic Bioremediation of PCE and TCE?
