Petrox EC is provided in a stable liquid form. The product may be diluted with tap water to for an economical solution for spill cleanups.
The surfactant in Petrox EC binds with the hydrocarbon molecule to increase polarity and make it water soluble fro easy removal.
The microbes in Petrox EC® have been selected for their ability to metabolize hydrocarbons and convert them to carbon dioxide and water. Petrox® metabolism destroys both the aliphatic and aromatic components of petroleum by beta oxidation. The Petrox® organisms were also selected for their ability to tolerate a wide range of environmental conditions, including a wide range of pH, oxygen levels and environmental contaminants.
Safety and Toxicity
The surfactant in Petrox EC® is a non-ionic surfactant. These surfactants are commonly found in dish washing liquids, shampoos and specialty industrial surfactants. While the undiluted surfactant may cause eye and skin irritation, they are considered safe for human use and exposure. They are biodegradable in the environment. The special surfactant in Petrox EC cleans oil and grease from floors without causing slipperiness.
The microorganisms in Petrox EC® are naturally occurring several strains of Pseudomonas sp. They have not been genetically modified. The fermentation batches are tested to verify the absence of unwanted strains, especially potentially pathogenic strains. The organisms in Petrox EC® are safe for human use and exposure.
Petrox-EC is intended to degrade minor petroleum hydrocarbon spills. In addition, Petrox-EC eliminates slippery build-up and remediates chemical contamination on surfaces. Its pH is neutral and will not degrade or etch concrete.
Petrox-EC is sent as a liquid material in 2.5 gallon containers. Add 1 to 4 ounces of the concentrate per gallon of water for the usable solution.
